When I came across your poem, I knew it perfectly captured my wife, Kimberly Ann Hawk. She viewed the world with a keen eye for detail and embraced whatever came her way. She was constantly astonished by the beauty around her.

Kim communicated through sly observations and humorous remarks. Instead of relying solely on words, she expressed herself through painting and drawing, finding joy in the process. Tragically, she passed away from cancer at the age of 62 in May 2023. Recognizing the depth of her talent, I felt compelled to share her work with a wider audience beyond our family and friends.

Together with our daughter Catarina, we embarked on compiling her artwork. As we sifted through the pieces, we uncovered hidden gems and cherished favorites. The excitement we felt affirmed the need to showcase Kim’s remarkable talent with paint and pen.

Kim’s absence has left a profound void in our lives, one that Cat and I struggle to fill. We hope that this book will aid in our healing journey as we navigate life without her.

Our aspiration is that others will derive as much joy from Kim’s work as we do.

If you enjoy silly things like flying pigs, a cat afraid of shoes, a baby mouse in timeout, or a male mouse named Peach, then you will enjoy the work of Kimberly Ann Hawk. Her whimsical drawings and paintings will make you smile, laugh, and give you pause as you wonder what it would really be like if pigs had jetpacks.
